Participation in 2023 Korea Ship Management Overseas Road Show

On October 19th, POS SM participated in ‘2023 Korea Ship Management Overseas Road Show’ jointly hosted by the Korea Ship Managers’ Association(KOSMA), Busan Metropolitan City, and Busan Port Authority(BPA) to exchange the Busan-Hiroshima shipping industry. The road show was held at the Clayton Bay Hotel in Kure City, Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan and about 60 people were present, including major ship management companies in Busan and shipping officials and trades from both countries, including ship owners in Hiroshima, Japan. 

 

In the seminar, the first session of this event, four topics were presented: ▲ The Current Status of the Korean Seafarer Manpower and Ship Management Industry (Chairman Lee Chang-min of KOSMA), ▲ The Present and Future of the Ship Management Industry in Busan (Manager Jeong Sang-gu of the Shipping Port Division in Busan), ▲ The Digitalization Strategy of the Korean Ship Management Industry (Department Manager Lee Sang-jo of POS SM), and ▲ The Implications of the New Greenhouse Gas Rating (Capt. Yamada Yu of Rightship).

 

Department Manager Lee of our company, made a presentation on the theme of ‘Digitalization Strategy of the Korean Ship Management Industry’. Amid the major changes of the 4th Industrial Revolution and Digital Transformation(DX), there were announcements on the overall industry, including the current status of DX in ship management* and countermeasures against environmental regulations (EU MRV/IMO DCS, CII/EEXI) through technology utilization. In addition, there were the introduction of our company's Fleet Operation e-Center(integrated ship control center) and explanation of intellectualized solutions provided by our company to meet the needs of ship owners, such as the ship performance analysis tool through big data collection. 

 

Through the topic presentation, there were heated discussions between presenters and participants of the two countries, including the current status of the Korean ship management industry and global issues such as Green Transformation(GX) and Digital Transformation(DX). At the dinner meeting, participants had time to strengthen sales and networks to attract Japanese ship owners' consignment of ship management by exchanging information, including identifying shipping market trends in each country, promoting Korean ship management strengths and technology, and identifying the needs of ship owners in Hiroshima. 

 

  * DX in ship management : A continuous process in which ship management companies adapt to or promote disruptive changes in customers and markets by utilizing digital technologies such as AI, big data, IoT, block chain, and cloud to create new Maritime Solutions, including safety management and crew management services
